  • Prehistory 1999 -> 2005
  • Mar 5, 2005 - 16.15 - Thunderstorm caused lockup, system restarted at 21.12
  • Mar 11, 2005 - 10.00 - hard drive errors - restarted OK - a disk is dying, its probably the one that has been making the horrible noise for the last 2 years, time to look for a replacement.
  • Mar 13, 2005 - Uni. network connection to internet died at 22.45, reconnected at 12.00 on the 14 Mar.
  • Apr 1, 2005 - Added a random poem picker use url "http://www.telelib.com/randomverse.php"
  • Apr 6, 2005 - Added a feedback form, a link should be in the footer of every file.
  • Apr 23, 2005 - Uni. network connection to internet broken at 11.00, reconnected at 15.30. Upgrading connection to other campuses.
  • May 12, 2005 - 09.00 - Thunderstorm activity - hard disk failed - disk removed and system restarted. Hope to replace disk in next day or two.
  • May 13, 2005 - 10.00 - new disk installed - thanks to Mark Talbot - system restarted
  • Jul 7, 2005 - 09.30 - OS upgrade -> Fedora Core 4. Time = 3 hours, + 7 hours to get yum to work through the proxy here, + another hour to sort out changes in php scripts. Now 8.30 pm, all good I think
  • Oct ?? 2005 - replacement disk failed - replaced with new 160G Western Digital - setup yum repos for FC4, FC5 - base, extras and updates, also for Dries repos - rsync from PlanetMirror.com.au
  • Feb. 4 , 2006 - Due to major network maintenance this site will be unavailable for approximately 30 hours over the weekend of Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th of February 2006. The network outage will commence at 07.00 on the 4th of Feb. (Australian Eastern Summer time). - Finished early, only took 8 hours.
  • May 8, 2006 - 08.30 - OS upgrade -> Fedora Core 5. Time = 5 hours, no problems, just slow.
  • Oct 26, 2006 - Setup yum repos for FC6, retired FC4
  • Nov 7, 2006 - Yum repos - PlanetMirror not functioning - switched rsync source to kernel.org
  • Dec 23, 2006 - Yum repos - switched rysnc source to rsync.uni-bayreuth.de
  • Jan 13, 2007 - Shutdown - Power out for maintenance - 9-10:30
  • Jan 25, 2007 - Network outage - approx 14 hours.
  • Jun 13, 2007 - System upgrade - CPU PII-400 -> AMD 1800+ - RAM 256Mb -> 512Mb - System disk - 6gig -> 120gig - OS - Fedora core 5 -> Fedora 7. Added repos for fedora 7. System down 8:30 -> 14:00
  • Sep 28, 2007 - System died - FatCap disease on motherboard - urgent replacement of motherboard required downgrade of cpu, Athlon1800+ -> PIII 800 - data on drives recovered without loss - System down for 36 hours (Happened at 03:00 approx on the morning of a day when I was out of town, so it was 24 hours before I could get to it)
  • Oct 8, 2007 - Upgrade NIC -> 100 Mbit - downtime total < 10 min.
  • May 27, 2008 - an upgrade to the network system also included an unannounced move to a VPN, effectively killing the site at this location. A network connection with a different commercial provider was ordered, this will take several week to implement and will mean that the site will be under a different, as yet unknown, domain name.
  • Jun 3, 2008 - as a temporary measure the site has moved, and can be found at ghostwolf.dyndns.org. This is unlikely to be the permanent new address, but will be kept as long as possible to reduce disruption. As a result of the reduced bandwidth the sections for the yum repos and the technical lookup have been permanently removed.
  • Sep 22, 2008 - New domain registered - telelib.com, all links to the site should now use the www.telelib.com url. The ghostwolf url should still work, but will be redirected.
  • Nov 29, 2008 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 10
  • Mar 26, 2009 - Network connection was down for 2 days, Telstra foulup.
  • Jul 1, 2009 - Added/converted site to simple css. Started using svg format for graphics, may cause problems with some older/less capable browsers, eg. Internet Explorer versions <=8
  • Jul 30, 2010 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 13
  • Nov 27, 2010 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 14
  • Apr 12, 2012 - Upgraded system - P4 2.6 GHz, 1 GB ram.
  • Apr 14, 2012 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 16.
  • Jun 30, 2012 - Added javascript to allow double-clicking a word to open a link to an online dictionary. The script was copied from www.arachnoid.com, a very useful and interesting site by Paul Lutus. The script has since been disabled as it was a bit too distracting.
  • March 3, 2013 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 17.
  • July 26, 2013 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 19 - caused some disruption to the web server until I found/fixed, a problem with the way various sites were linking to the Words site.
  • Jan 16, 2014 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 20 - no problems.
  • Jan 16, 2015 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 21 - no problems.
  • August 10, 2015 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 22 - no problems.
  • Jan 10, 2016 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 23 - no problems.
  • July 10, 2016 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 24 - no problems.
  • September 23 - 26 2016 - Phone line fault, no network connection.
  • December 14, 2016 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 25 - no problems.
  • December 18, 2017 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 27 - upgrade hickup and changes to the way apache and php setup caused a few hours downtime
  • July 07, 2018 - Moved system to new hardware, Intel Core i3, 4gig RAM. Upgraded to Fedora 28, 64 bit at last. Old system had been in use since April, 2012.
  • December 19, 2018 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 29 - no problems.
  • June 1, 2019 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 30 - no problems
  • November 23, 2109 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 31 - no problems
  • May 14, 2020 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 32 - no problems
  • November 6, 2020 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 33 - no problems
  • May 16, 2021 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 34 - no problems
  • Oct, 2021 - Upgraded hardware -> AMD X4 955, 16gig RAM
  • November 4, 2021 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 35 - upgrade no problem but it also upgraded PHP to v8 this caused some scripts to throw errors, fixed fairly easily.
  • March 17, 2022 - Counter hit 3 million at 10.30 pm.
  • June 26, 2022 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 36 - no problems.
  • December 3, 2022 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 37 - no problems.
  • June 12, 2023 - Upgraded OS to Fedora 38 - no problems.
